5 De-Stressing Secrets

The fast pace of the society in which we are living may leave most people tired, stressed and in need of renewal to be able to perform the daily demands of work and family. For most people, there is little time for play and relaxation. This means that the body is in constant stress mode and needs to find a way to enjoy some of the benefits of relaxation. Whether and individual has five minutes or more time to de-stress he/she will benefit from that time. Stress ages the body. Here are five de-stressing secrets to help you cope with the daily demands of work and family.

You must make time for fun and games. It is important to participate in a hobby, sport, or activity of your liking, and concentrate in having some “me” time. Playing games or sports with the kids is fine, but you also need to find some playtime on your own, either through a hobby such like painting or an activity like kayaking, to name an example.

Make light of life. Life can throw some curve balls at you, but it is how you react to life’s stressful events that make a difference. Try to make some light of mishaps and find a positive to negative events in your life. However, you must acknowledge your feelings and accept them, understand them, and never bottle them up. Making light of something does not mean to ignore the situation; on the contrary, it is acknowledging the issue with a light heart. Laugh if you can.

Laughing has de-stressing benefits as the act of laughing releases endorphins, which calm you down, and relaxes your body. Enjoy some comedy shows, or movies, and enjoy a good session of jokes with your friends and family.

Make a point of enjoying your life. Many people stop having fun as they age, or doing activities that they enjoy because they see themselves as older and think that others will criticize their behavior. There is an adage that says, “You are as old as you feel”; in this case this is true and depriving yourself of the activities that you like will age you, as you will feel trapped behind a personality that is not your own. Break of the “what would they say” chain and live your life fully.

Exercise and eat a healthy diet. These two common sense activities will do your body much good. Many times, part of the stress in the body has physical roots, such as being overweight, and feeling tired all the time – too tired to enjoy life. By choosing a healthy lifestyle and enjoying the benefits of exercise – it releases endorphins as well – your body will start feeling renewed, and so your self-esteem, as you start losing weight. In addition, the benefits of exercise extend to heart health, longevity, and improvement on the look and feel of your skin, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Even if you are young, the benefits of exercise at an early age will act as prevention of weight gain and of high blood pressure or high cholesterol, which lead to heart disease and other health conditions.

By setting aside a few minutes every day to de-stress you can feel much better and renew your spirit.

Five Age Revitalizing Secrets

When it comes to skin, everyone wants to appear young and have that radiant skin that is characteristic of youth. However, as a person ages, they lose some of this radiance and then they feel as if they have nothing to do, but sit and wait for the lines and wrinkles to appear. However, there are secrets that people can use in order to make sure that their skin is revitalized so that they do end up with that youthful appearance that they have always wanted. Though some of these ‘secrets’ really are not secret, they are basically good practices that people seldom seem to think about.

First off, relaxation is the key. Yes, this may sound as if this is new age advice. However, research has proven that those people who relax a bit more throughout the day and can simply forget their stresses, have skin that appears younger. For those that are on the go all the time, the stress that they are putting on their lives could be leading to their skin losing that glow. Instead, take an hour out of each day to simply relax and allow your brain to sit back and cool off. Your skin will thank you for it later.

Secondly, treat yourself to a skin massage. This may seem unnecessary, however a skin massage is going to encourage the blood flow under the skin that is going to help the skin become more elastic. Those that do this once a week are going to notice that their skin is more firm and youthful looking.

Have a skin care routine that you utilize each day. Those that are worried about their skin losing its youthful appearance need to make sure that they have a cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing routine that they use each day. This is going to help to remove impurities from the skin and keep it well moisturized, which is always the key to a more youthful appearance.

Fourth of all, protect your skin. Do not go out into the sun without wearing protection. The damage that the sun does to the skin is one way in which people will start to notice that their skin is not as youthful as before and this is due to the sun affected the color, pigmentation and the elasticity that is naturally found in the skin.

Lastly, look at your lifestyle. If you smoke or eat lots of junk food then you are going to have problems with your skin. If you are really wanting to have that youthful appearance to your skin, then you must eat and exercise and cut out those bad habits.

Anti-Aging and Sleep

In the fight to stop the negative effects of aging, sleep is one of the top ways to achieve results. Beauty sleep is not just a term of joking fun, as adequate amounts of sleep can actually help make a person more attractive by allowing the body to use the hours of rest for cell repair and recovery.

Sleep is honestly one of the best anti-aging tips, and better yet, it is free! People spend billions each year on the latest creams and serums, but getting those proverbial forty winks will do more good for your body than any of those beauty products.

Stresses of the day, sun damage, poor dietary habits, and lack of sleep damage your body and face in various ways. Stress makes the body release cortisol, sun exposure prematurely ages your skin, poor diet rob your system of necessary vitamins and minerals, and lack of sleep deprives the body of a chance to relax and rebuild.

Melatonin levels increase when it is time for bed and it is the signal to your body to begin its nighttime work. Melatonin is a synthesized from serotonin, a brain hormone that is made mostly of the amino acid tryptophan and works to regulate mood and sleep. During the day, cortisol is released into the body, which prevents cell repair to occur during the day since it is an anti-inflammatory hormone. While at sleep, cortisol production is decreased, as is insulin production, while there is an increase in natural growth hormone.

When a person eats a diet that is low in eggs, meat, beans, and poultry, they are denying their body the tryptophan it needs to work and can lead to lack of sleep and depression. A proper diet can go a long way in helping to create healthy sleep function. Melatonin is available in supplement form and can assist a person in falling asleep. Tryptophan is no longer available as a nutritional supplement in health food stores in the United States, but natural amounts of the amino acid are readily supplied by protein rich foods.

Melatonin is also linked to breast cancer prevention. As melatonin is a natural antioxidant, it is very likely true. When melatonin levels begin to decrease, the aging process starts, which leads many experts to agree that increasing melatonin can assist in the anti-aging process.

Through the stages of sleep, the body works to repair and regenerate itself. During the delta sleep stage, or stage four, the body releases a very potent anti-aging hormone – human growth hormone. This is stimulating to the immune system and the amount released into the body increases with the more delta sleep one gets!
